Electronics Rework Technician

We support the full product lifecycle — concept, hardware and firmware development, prototyping, industrialisation, assembly and end-of-line testing — serving clients across sectors as diverse as industrial, domestic, medical, telecommunications and aerospace. The role
We are looking for an Electronics Rework Technician to strengthen our After-Sales Technical Service team.
The main purpose of this role is to diagnose, repair and validate electronic boards and products requiring rework, ensuring that all work is carried out with technical accuracy, properly documented and aligned with Exatronic’s quality standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering, Quality and Production teams, contributing to the identification of root causes and the continuous improvement of products and processes.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose faults in electronic boards, PCBAs, equipment and electronic products.
- Carry out the rework, repair and replacement of SMD and THT electronic components.
- Perform manual soldering and desoldering work in accordance with the applicable technical and quality requirements.
- Analyse non-conforming products, customer returns and equipment submitted for technical assistance.
- Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, bills of materials and other product documentation.
- Use diagnostic and testing equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering stations and rework equipment.
- Perform functional tests following each intervention, ensuring that the product complies with the relevant specifications.
- Identify and document the causes of faults, the work carried out, the components replaced and the test results.
- Ensure the traceability of repair and rework processes.
- Prepare technical records and reports relating to the work carried out.
- Work with the Engineering, Quality, Production and Customer Management teams to investigate faults and technical customer complaints.
- Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Share relevant technical information to support improvements to products, production processes, testing methods and work instructions.
- Comply with internal quality, safety and electrostatic discharge protection procedures — ESD.
- Keep the workstation, equipment and materials properly organised and identified.
Requirements and qualifications
Education
- Technical or vocational qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or a related field.
- A Higher Professional Technical Course qualification — CTeSP — or higher education qualification in a relevant technical field will be considered an advantage.
Experience
- Professional experience in electronic repair, rework, technical assistance, testing or fault diagnosis.
- Practical experience in the soldering and desoldering of SMD and THT components.
- Experience in the analysis and repair of electronic boards and PCBAs.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Language skills
- Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.
- Knowledge of electronic circuit diagnostic techniques and tools.
- Ability to use measuring and testing equipment.
- Knowledge of good practices in soldering, rework and electronic board repair.
- Technical English skills sufficient to interpret documentation, schematics and manuals.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of, or certification in, IPC-7711/7721 standards.
- Knowledge of the IPC-A-610 standard.
- Experience with RMA processes or after-sales technical support.
- Experience in industrial electronics manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of SMT and THT processes.
- Experience using ERP systems or recording and traceability platforms.
- Knowledge of root-cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Immediate availability.
- Based in Aveiro or the surrounding area.

SMT Technician

The role
We are looking for an SMT Technician to join our Production team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in an industrial environment, has an eye for detail and wants to be part of the manufacturing process behind electronic products and solutions.
You will work directly with our SMT production lines, supporting the day-to-day operation of the equipment and helping ensure that production runs efficiently and according to our quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and monitor SMT production equipment;
- Prepare and load components and materials according to production requirements;
- Support line set-up and product changeovers;
- Monitor the production process and identify potential deviations;
- Carry out visual inspections and support quality control activities;
- Record production information and follow established work instructions;
- Support first-level troubleshooting and report technical issues when required;

SMT Operator – Electronics Industry (Mid-Level)

Exatronic is looking to strengthen its technical team with SMT Production Line Operators for the assembly of electronic boards. The ideal candidate should have 1 to 3 years of experience in related industries, demonstrate autonomy, rigour and practical knowledge, and the ability to integrate into multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate SMT assembly lines under supervision, involving configuration, start-up, monitoring, and production shutdown.
- Participate in the configuration and programming of machines, minimising downtime and promoting rapid troubleshooting.
- Ensure quality inspections (SPI and AOI) in line with IPC-A-610 standards and internal requirements.
- Integrate production processes, collaborating directly with engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure maintenance and participation in the implementation of continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with standards, certifications and legal requirements applicable to the electronics sector (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485 and other relevant standards).
- Prepare, monitor and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring the definition and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyse non-conformities, customer complaints and quality indicators, proposing improvement actions.
- Support the production, engineering, purchasing and logistics areas in quality-related matters.
- Manage and evaluate suppliers from a quality perspective, including qualification processes and audits.
