In this edition, we introduce you to the journey of Mário Dias, an industrialisation engineer. His path at Exatronic is an example of rapid growth, collaborative spirit, and adaptability. From his early challenges in the Design & Development team to his current role, Mário shares how he transformed academic knowledge into real, impactful solutions, always driven by curiosity, team support, and a desire to innovate.
From Prototype to Real Innovation
From Theory to Practice: First Steps in Design & Development
Entering the world of professional electronics is often a bold leap from theory to practice. For Mário Dias, that leap began at Exatronic — his first experience in a corporate environment.
As part of the Design & Development team, Mário quickly realised something important — turning ideas into reality is a demanding but highly rewarding process.
“At University, my reality was purely theoretical," he recalls. "But here, I realised that academic knowledge is indeed an important starting point and an essential tool for anyone beginning their career. I learned to implement solutions that, besides being technically sound, must adhere to rigorous safety requirements and be ready for the market.”
In this initial journey, the team's support was essential. “More experienced colleagues were crucial. Always available, they guided me with knowledge and patience, ensuring my contribution had a real impact on the projects.”
It was during this time that Mário began to shape his critical eye and strengthen the foundations that now support his work.
The Transition to Industrialisation: From Prototype to Final Product
After gaining confidence and experience in solution development, Mário embraced a new challenge: joining the Industrialisation team.
“It was a change in perspective,” he shares. “I stopped focusing on creation and started thinking about execution: how to make a prototype viable for large-scale production.”
In this new phase, he began to lead processes involving the definition of the production model and the entire supply chain, ensuring that each product is ready to reach the market in an efficient and sustainable manner.
The Optimisation Challenge: Innovation in Service of the Client
Among the many projects that have shaped his journey, there is one that Mário holds with particular pride: the energy optimisation of a retail product.
The challenge was clear — drastically reduce the energy consumption of a high-volume system. But the solution was far from obvious.
“I had never worked with such a specific focus on energy efficiency at the component level,” he admits. “It was a real puzzle.”
“We managed to reduce consumption by 10% compared to the initial value. It was an impressive result, which made all the difference for the client and for the project, ensuring the product's viability in the market.”
Accelerated Growth in a Collaborative and Diverse Environment
Looking back, Mário recognises that the environment he experienced at Exatronic played a decisive role in his career.
“I was lucky to be surrounded by people who know how to share, collaborate, and teach. This spirit makes all the difference — I grew quickly because I was never alone in the challenges.”
The diversity of projects and the fast-paced environment not only fuelled his technical development but also contributed to his personal growth. “You learn a lot in a very short time. This dynamism accelerates everything — critical thinking, autonomy, adaptability.”
